Daniel Guerra
our language is motion
the teal surf at tin can beach
where we bury our bodies
and swim after dolphins
as the sun peaks
and we marinate
and the cheap rum that burns our guts
and the Los Angeles sunset
seductively slithering away
begging us to stay for just one more night
but we can’t my love
our language
is motion
the car roaring at 90 mph in the desert
near Barstow
where flowers writhe and perish
while our wayward dreams flourish
coaxed by the gnarl of Mr. Morrison
and the neon lights
that sprout out of the sand
like an oasis
